L.L.Bean announced it will
implement free standard shipping to all United States and Canadian
addresses effective March 25, 2011. Customer orders ship for free to
United States and Canadian addresses with no minimum purchase. L.L.
Bean first introduced the concept of free shipping in 1912 by adding
"post paid" in catalog copy. L.L.Bean's free regular shipping includes
delivery of packages in 2-5 business days.
Chris McCormick, President and CEO, L.L.Bean, says, "We tested
free shipping offers with no minimum purchase for several months and
the customer response was overwhelming. Our customers want and value
free shipping. It's our opportunity to offer free shipping for all U.S.
and Canadian customers with no minimum purchase, no end date, no
conditions -- guaranteed."
