Is the end of the world near?

It's been showcased in movies and while some say the end of the world will happen in 2012 and others predict it will happen this Saturday.

The leader of an independent Christian group said the beginning of the end of the world is May 21st.

Harold Camping said he knows the end of the world is near through his 50 plus years of studying the Bible.

Camping said his prediction is something he's learned through the Bible and numerological proofs.

Blanca Herrera of Pharr said she believes that May 21st could be the beginning of the end of the world.

She told Action 4 News that she was told in a dream that it would happen.

"This big white bird came down and slid down to earth next to me and as soon as it landed, it transformed into a white angel and to tell the world that the world was going to come to an end," said Herrera.

Herrera had that dream before she heard about Camping's prediction.

"Its kind of weird because since the angel gave me instructions to tell the world, and now you come up to me and tell me to tell the world on tv it's strange to me," she said.

But there are many skeptics.

"God created us and god is going to be protecting us and god isn't going to take this world away from us," said Suresh Mansinghanis.

Idolina agrees with Mansinghanis.

"God's the only person that can say when he wants this world to end," said Idolina Herrera.

But whether you're a skeptic or believe the end of the world is near, Suresh Mansinghani has these words of advice:

"Live life everyday like this is the end of your day. Enjoy your life," he said.

Camping has a following that has made it their mission to let people know that the end of the world is near.
